Let’s suppose you put together one new photo essay a month, and then sell and resell it to just to the print industry – magazines and newspapers, say 10 times. And then let’s say it sells, on average for only $150 per publication (and it may very well do better than that): sometimes reprints will sell for as little as $50, sometimes for as much at $250. Those 12 features (one per month, right?) may then earn you an income for the year of at least $11,000, $1,800 in month 12 alone. That’s not bad for two or three days of work a month, now is it?

Now post the feature as a booklet on Kindle and you could, depending upon your marketing skills, make anywhere $50 to $500 per month, every month’ again, that’s dependent upon good Kindle marketing. So now let’s continue the process: I can write one of these features in a matter of hours, so can you (once you have the photographs, of course). So, if you only put one together every couple of weeks…. well, you get the idea.

Come on folks, any photographer/writer worth the title can easily assemble a new photo essay every other week, right? And that could easily produce an annual income of $50,000, or even more; it’s not out of the question. And, better yet, it comes from doing something we absolutely love – spending our days out in the open, traveling, sightseeing, and enjoying the good life with camera in hand. What could be better than that?
